What is a Porta Potti portable toilet and how does it work?
Porta Potti's are freshwater flushing portable toilets, which needs no access to drainage or water systems. The toilet is built from high-quality plastic that is durable, hygienic and easy to clean.

Porta Potti portable toilets consist of two halves that can be easily taken apart and put together again. The bottom half is the waste tank and the top half is a combined freshwater flush tank and seating bowl. The powerfully efficient freshwater flush cleans the toilet bowl effectively.

All portable toilets have an unique integrated swivelling pour-out spout and a pressure release button to ensure splash free emptying of the waste holding tank. The level indicator shows when the holding tank is nearly full. Special Thetford sanitation products are required to ensure an effective operation of the toilet system and to offer an optimum performance.

CASSETTE TOILET C-400 Thetford Portable toilets

The Cassette C-400 caravan toilet is the top model in the range. This series of caravan toilets has several unique features, including the fact that the waste holding tank has wheels and a retractable handle to allow ease of handling. In addition, the working mechanism in the waste holding tank is removable, making the inside of the tank easy to clean and maintain, while an advanced level indicator display shows the levels in the waste holding tank and/or flush-water tank. The Cassette C-400 caravan toilets have a fixed toilet bowl and can be installed on both the left and right.

To ensure the efficient operation of portable chemical toilets, it is necessary to use toilet additives. Thetford offers a complete range of toilet additives to suit the varying needs of mobile toilets for camping, caravanning and domestic use.

What do Thetford toilet additives do?
Thetford waste holding tank additives reduce unpleasant odours and gas build-up. They break down waste matter in toilet holding tanks and prevent clogging. They also prevent deposits from sticking to the inside of waste tanks. Toilet additives are necessary to make mobile sanitation systems work trouble free.
Our flushwater tank additive keeps the water ‘fresh’, ensures a smoother, better flush and leaves a protective film in the toilet bowl.
What types of additives are available for chemical toilets ?
There are additives for the waste holding tank, for the flushwater tank and there are maintenance products.  Your porta potti in general requires two main chemicals, the chemical for the bottom "waste" tank, either Aquakem blue or green is suitable and is essential, and flushing fluid "Aqua rinse" which is optional and is added to the flushing water top tank.  Although this is not essential it makes usage of a chemical toilet a more pleasant experience.
